A first martial arts step for younger children

Little Dragons is our martial arts programme for children aged 4 to 6 who need movement, fun and clear structure in small steps. Each 30-minute session gives young children one focused lesson goal without asking them to hold attention for too long. We mix simple Wing Chun movement with warm-ups, skill games and life-skills teaching, so children can stay engaged while learning how to listen, copy and take turns. A first class at Wing Chun can feel welcoming even if your child has never tried an organised activity before.

Short sessions with calm, useful routines

Mondays and Wednesdays from 4:30pm to 5:00pm keep the format short and consistent. Little Dragons at Wing Chun helps children build balance, coordination and confidence while working with others and following instructions. Practical self-defence at this age is introduced carefully through awareness, posture, boundaries and simple movement, not adult ideas pushed onto young children. Over time, regular attendance helps children feel settled in class and more sure of their own movement.

Frequently asked questions

What happens in a Little Dragons class?

We usually include a warm-up, simple movement practice, skill games and one clear lesson focus. The aim is to keep young children engaged while building listening, balance, coordination and early confidence in a way they can enjoy.

Is this suitable for a shy 4 to 6 year old?

Yes. Many young children need time to settle into a new group. The class is short, structured and supportive, which helps nervous children feel safer while they learn the routine. We build confidence through familiar steps rather than expecting instant participation.

What should our child wear for the first session?

Comfortable clothing that allows easy movement is usually the simplest place to start. Once you have booked, we can guide you on anything more specific, but the main aim for a first visit is helping your child feel comfortable and ready to move.
