What adult self-defence training develops
Close-range practical focus
We train balance, distance and efficient responses for realistic adult concerns.
Movement that supports confidence
Mobility and coordination help self-defence skills feel more usable day to day.
Progression without guesswork
We build from simple defensive movement into more demanding applications.
Practical adult self-defence with clear structure
Adult self-defence works best when it is trained, not guessed. Our adult self defence classes use Wing Chun principles to address practical concerns such as awareness, balance, distance and efficient responses at close range. We start with body structure and direct movement, so you can learn how technique supports calm decision-making. If you want training that feels purposeful rather than random, this approach gives you clear physical skills and a better sense of how to use them.

Build reactions through controlled partner work
As you become more familiar with the movement, we build in controlled partner drills that develop reactions, positioning and measured choices under pressure. Sessions at Wing Chun also help mobility and coordination, which matter both for self-defence and for moving with more confidence day to day. We keep the route progressive, from basic defensive movement into more complex combinations and applications. Training through Wing Chun can begin in the adult basic class and grow from there.
Frequently asked questions
Will we practise self-defence with partners?
Yes, but in a controlled and progressive way. We begin with structure, balance and movement, then use partner drills to develop timing, reactions and application. That lets you understand how the skills work without being pushed into pressure too early.
Is size or strength the main factor in adult self-defence?
No. We place more value on body structure, efficient movement, position and timing than on trying to overpower someone. The goal is to respond well, keep balance and use technique properly, rather than relying on strength alone.
Where should adults start in the programme?
If you are new, the adult basic class is usually the best entry point because it builds the core movement and understanding needed for later partner work and application. From there, training can progress into mixed and advanced adult sessions as your skills develop.
